On 6th February 2024, in the night of Tuesday to Wednesday; Muslims are celebrating the great day of Miraj, the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) ascent to heaven (Arab. lailat al-miʿrāǧ). IFIS&IZ congratulates to all Muslims on this special occasion and asks Allah (c.c.) to help us to gain his pleasure.
The Ascension of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to heaven is considered as one of the greatest wonders and occurred in the 27th night of the month Rajab about one year after migration (Hijra) of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Makkah to Medina. In this special night, the Prophet (PBUH) made a journey during the night on the wondrous mount called Buraq from the Kaaba in Makkah to the Al-Aqsa-Mosque in Jerusalem. Afterwards, the ascension to heaven occurred from the Al-Aqsa-Mosque. The Prophet (PBUH) has reached the highest point in the heavens and was graced with an experience of the Divine Presence.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has turned from his extraordinary journey after receiving instructions and gifts to take back to the faithful. One of these gifts was the obligatory five times a day Prayers, which are an excellent opportunity to gain pleasure and nearness to Allah(c.c.). Thus it is narrated “Prayer is Miraj of the believers” and outlines the importance of the Prayers as the basis to experience the presence of Divine.
In this sense, we shall strive for ascending our character, moral values, spirituality and prayers to gain the nearness to our Creator (c.c.). IFIS&IZ wishes that this great occasion of Miraj brings unity to the entire Muslim world and solidarity and forgiveness to the world’s different regions. Especially to the location in which the miraculous event took place, IFIS&IZ wishes an end of violence, shedding tears, sufferings and desperateness and in contrast enduring love strengthened by mutual trust and compassion for peace and harmony.
